Polite Words in English (Kata dalam Bentuk Halus dalam Bahasa Inggris)

Terkadang beberapa kata cukup kasar untuk diucapkan sehingga muncullah beberapa kata pengganti yang dirasa cukup halus. Berikut beberapa contoh polite words:

1. cloakroom = toilet in public building (toilet umum).
   e.g. I went to the cloakroom on the third floor.
2. elderly = old (tua)
   e.g. He takes care of his elderly parents.
3. end = death atau kematian.
   e.g. He met his end yesterday.
4. go = to die (mati).
   e.g. She went peacefully in her sleep.
5. merry = slightly drunk atau mabuk minuman keras.
   e.g. You got a bit merry last night.
6. perspiration = sweat atau keringat.
   e.g. She wiped the perspiration off her face and arms with a towel.
7. plump = fat (gemuk)
   e.g. He's got rather plump since I last saw him.
8. senior citizen = old person (orang yang sudah tua atau lanjut usia)
   e.g. Discounts are available for senior citizens.
9. sugar = shit
   e.g. Oh sugar, I've just spilt coffee all down my jacket!
10. waterworks = bagian tubuh yang berhubungan dengan buang air kecil
    e.g. The doctor asked if I'd had any problems with my waterworks.
11. professional help = bantuan dari psychiatrict (psikiater)
    e.g.  Personally, I think he should get some professional help. 
12. sex worker  = prostitute atau PSK
13. well built = fat; big (gemuk; besar)
14. pass away = die/stop living/meninggal dunia
    e.g. She's terribly upset because her father passed away last week.
15. relieve yourself    = urinate (buang air kecil)
16. the underprivileged = poor people (orang miskin)
17. pass water = urinate
18. spend a penny = urinate
